What Are Status and Milestones?

Although there may appear to be little difference between a status and a milestone, TrustEase Administrator's Workstation makes an important distinction between the two: a status is a situation and a milestone is an event.

Status and milestones track account (or federal tax return) information, beneficiary information and state tax return information.  When tracking an account through the tax preparation process, a status is what happens between a milestone.  For example, a status answers the question, Where is an account in the tax preparation process?, whereas a milestone provides a history or audit trail for the account.  TrustEase Administrator's Workstation keeps track of the date and time each milestone was reached as well as the user or process that caused the milestone to be reached.  Milestones can also be automatically updated based on the completion of a status.

You can view the status and milestones for each account in your TrustEase database using the account binder's Status tab.  If the appropriate access rights were granted to you, you can also change the status and milestones for an account.
