Updating a Field in a Register

Certain types of registers contain updatable fields, which can be used to communicate specific information about federal and state tax returns, beneficiary or asset information.  The fields may allow you to select an item from a drop-down list or enter text, numbers or a date.  Before you can update a register field, you must have the appropriate access right granted to you.

To update a field in a register:

  1. Open the register that contains the field you want to update.

  2. Navigate to the field you want to update.

  3. Depending on the type of field you are updating, you may need to:

  4. Select the appropriate item from the drop-down list.

  5. Type a combination of characters and numbers.

  6. Type numeric data only.

  7. Type a date.  When you type a date, be sure to use the format MM/DD/YYYY (where MM is the month, DD is the day and YYYY is the year).

  1. Complete steps 2 and 3 until you finish updating the fields you need to update.

  2. Click the Save button.
